Arnold vs. Brainy

Ok, ok, I know there is no real contest here, but since the Harold vs. Curly thread was starting to run to just obessions in general, I thought I'd start a Brainy vs. Arnold thread.

Perhapsormaybe- In regards to the picture, I don't post a lot of my drawings. If I remember, I'll scan it next week when I get back to my scanner and post it for you. It was the companion to a Brainy fic I wrote.

Anyway, thoughts?

My whole opinion on Arnold vs. Brainy: Yes, Helga loves Arnold. However, I think Helga has an image in her mind of the way she wants Arnold to be- this romantic artistic poet who speaks in accent and showers her with rose petals. We all know Arnold isn't that way. But, and I haven't read it, but I've heard about it, In 'Arnold's E-Files' we find out about Goldenhero and his antics. Anyone read the book and care to elaborate?

I want to read that book SO bad!

I think Brainy's very nice and smart and romantic actually. His test said he'd be a woods person right? I always imagined that it's because he's just so romantic and likes nature and trees and walking through the forest, not because he's not smart.
But still, I can't imagine him being with Helga. I like that passion and fire between Arnold and Helga.

It just so happens that I own the chapter book in question. Without spoiling anything, I can tell you that Brainy's manner of speech (when he types on a keyboard) is incredibly flowery and poetic. I would compare him to a male version of Helga when she's in "I love Arnold!" mode, though there's definitely something proper and dignified about Brainy's tone that doesn't quite match Helga's outbursts of emotion.

I've been to the library twice this week (and looked like a fool for being the only adult without a kid in the children's section today, thank goodness I at least had my son with me the day before) looking for that book.

I think, if what Nefarious says is right, Brainy could be a great match for Helga. I'm certainly not opposed to the pairing. I only see Arnold being a bit better for her in that he's so twitterpatted he doesn't speak up and tell her when she's in the wrong, and Helga needs clear boundaries and to be pulled back when she's being a little...uh...overzealous.

Their ment for each other, plus they complete each other. Helga and Arnold may be different in ways but they still are perfect. Their both adventourist, like poetry, and (at times for Arnold and ALWAYS for Helga) seem to enjoy each others company. They may argue but they resolve the differences.

Team Arnold. No contest.

Okay, I want to make this clear that I do NOT hate Brainy. I like Brainy, he's a good character, and he's funny and cute. I haven't read the book of all this, but I'll look into it if I can find it. But from what you guys are saying, I guess the book tells us a bit more about Brainy than we already know. So that's cool, we get a little more look on Brainy as he is. But like I said, I like Brainy, and have nothing against him.

I just don't see him paired with Helga. Yes, it is mostly because I'm a little too passionate about ArnoldxHelga....XD But, also, Brainy and Helga just have this "too similar yet too different" kind of thing going. Yes, they would be all right together and it's not a bad choice for a pairing at all, but in my opinion, I think it would also probably be (if Brainy doesn't fall out of love) a little too one-sided and very boring. They'd have a content and kind of low-key kind of relationship together. There really wouldn't be sparks or chemistry at all, or any passion. Which isn't always a bad thing, since some couples can pull that off fine.

But honestly, they just wouldn't work. I see them more as friends, or even having a close siblings kind of relationship. Being confidants and hanging out like buddies, you know? They'd be a lot better off as just good friends.

Well like I said, that's my own biased opinion, I do not HATE the pair, but I don't support it because it's just not for me. Arnold and Helga are meant for each other, and I really just don't see them with anyone else. That's just me.

So...Team Arnold here. But I do like Brainy! I know he'll find a girl one day. C:

See, I really like the concept of both. I love the concept of Brainy waiting until they're older, and then asking her out. Something about them is very domestic to me, Brainy and Helga, I mean. When I imagine them together I imagine an early morning in the future, they're married, Helga's pregnant, and Brainy is cuddling her. (My mind, it's auto-tuned for cute.)

But Arnold and Helga... They have this POP! Like, like... Arnold's very relaxed, and Helga's fiery and they're both passionate, so together it's like... Arnold's the Cherry and Helga's the Bomb.

I truly believe Arnold and Helga are meant for each other, so yeah, I'm Team Arnold. But should it never work out with them, I see Brainy as being the sweet, maybe calming influence in Helga's life.

I dunno, I could go on about how I see them.

I'm pretty much anti-Helga/Brainy. Because I honestly don't see Brainy ever being enough for her. He's waaaaaay too low key and maybe she would one day wish that she could love him, but I can't see it actually happening.

However, I really really really love building them up into really good friends and I sort of always see him shadowing her. At least until he knows she's at a finally happy point in her life and he can back away.

I have this one alternate universe type story (I call it the Darkverse XD) where a bunch of strange monsters took over the world and now there's only small factions of rebels who have to ability to take back the earth. Helga ends up leading those rebels (although a lot of people don't trust her because she is sort of half-Creecher... it's complicated) and Brainy is her #2. They're basically even closer then her and Phoebe are in the story because he's the only one who is completely unafraid of her and is able to follow her command without hesitation.

I like the idea that she comes to heavily rely on him and that a lot of her thinks everything would be so much easier if she could just love him, but she doesn't. And she's never going to.

Ahhhh, Squirreltamer. I've heard you talk about that story so much- I want to reeeeeeaaaaad it! Plus the artwork is fascinating.

Hmm, I should have known this would have been a touchy subject. Eh, I'm not really team Brainy, but I do like him a lot. I just always thought he gave Helga what she wanted from Arnold, while Arnold was too dense to get it. And I've paired them either side for fics before. I think in Brainy's head that if he follows her for long enough, then she'll eventually come to him. If not for love, then at least for comfort.

@Hatterlet: It's actually a really cool idea, but the amount of set up and time it would take to actually write the story? Auuugh! I wish that there was a way to write things without having to type it. I just want to be able to think and then BOOM! There's my thoughts all written else nice and neat without any effort on my part!

I really do like the idea of Brainy having a "presence" in Helga's life. He's actually going to show up in Trying at some point.

Brainy and Helga should be BFF's.

Helga and Arnold's children know him as Uncle Brainy. (Alternately named, 'That guy with the wheeze who's at all the family barbeques.)
